In 2016 total premiums [1] of the countries of our sample [2] amounted to €10,386.72 million. In 2015 premiums were €9,947.85 million which is an increase of 4.41% compared to 2015. However, it should be noted that the US 2016 gross written premium was estimated, i.e. it was increased of 3% compared to 2015, according to  the last ten years compound annual growth rate, and thet the US represents around 10% of the global market.
