Marie-Emmanuelle Schiltz elected as new RIAD President


She becomes the first woman to take the head of the International Association of Legal Protection Insurance

4 October 2012, Prague: The members of RIAD, the International Association of Legal Protection Insurance, today unanimously elected Marie-Emmanuelle Schiltz as their new President on the occasion of the 22nd RIAD Congress.

Marie-Emmanuelle Schiltz is Chief Executive Officer of Juridica, a French legal protection insurance company; a position she has held since 2007. She has also been a RIAD Board member since June 2010.

Speaking after her election, new RIAD President Marie-Emmanuelle Schiltz said:

“I am honoured to be elected as President of RIAD and I look forward to continuing the good work of my predecessor Paul Asplin. Our industry has a unique ability to deliver quality legal services in a way which delivers more value to clients. At RIAD, we will engage with our European and international stakeholders to drive greater recognition of the innovative capacity of legal protection insurers. Our industry’s smart legal products are also helping to improve access to justice – the value of this key societal benefit needs to be highlighted more than ever in the current global economic downturn.”

The 22nd RIAD Congress is being held in Prague on the 4-5 October 2012. The event brings together over 160 high-calibre representatives from the insurance industry and the legal services’ sector, as well as academics, policy-makers and consumer representatives.

Short biographie:
Marie-Emmanuelle Schiltz is Chief Executive Officer of Juridica, the French legal protection insurance company; a position she has held since 2007.
Marie-Emmanuelle Schiltz joined the AXA Group in 1987. She progressive took responsibility for a range of projects and teams whilst supporting the marketing, actuarial and contract management functions, prior to becoming the Executive Assistant to the President of AXA France.
Marie-Emmanuelle Schiltz is a graduate of the INSEEC Paris Business School and she is also President of the Groupement des Sociétés de Protection Juridique (the representative body for the legal protection insurance industry in France) and President of the legal insurance protection committee in the FFSA (the French insurance industry federation).
